Post-Election support
It's okay to get support for your post-election feelings.
Your emotions may be running high during this post-election season, and you may be feeling a mix of emotions that seem hard to navigate. You may be surprised by your own feelings or even lost within your feelings. For many, this time feels like grief, loss, increased anxiety, confusion, shock, disappointment, hurt, anger, frustration or fear. It may even feel hopeless and the uncertainty too overwhelming.
Ways we can support you in this post-election time and political transition:
Managing anxiety, grief, loss, fear
Working through hurt, anger, and lack of feeling supported by partners/friends/family/etc who don’t understand your feelings or say things like “it doesn’t apply to me”
Living through this experience has triggered past grief, loss, trauma emotions
Discuss what is safe/feels safe/can be safe and build on coping skills
Discuss boundaries in relationships and conversations; as well as tips for managing emotions with family/friends/coworkers who voted differently
Consider how you may need to recover from the election itself due to possible impacts of stress, on sleep habits, changes in relationships, increased concerns
Build on your sense of security, stability, emotional/mental wellness through the lens of empathy, curiosity, and kindness for self and others
If you need a safe space to process any aspect of the election…
If you are feeling impacted by election results…
If you are feeling tough emotions…
If your loved ones may be impacted…
